UF/IFAS EXTENSION HIRES NEW WAKULLA 4-H PROGRAM ASSISTANT

Crawfordville, FL – Wakulla 4-H Agent Dr. Rachel Pienta announced today that Christy Pearson has been hired to serve as the 4-H Program Assistant effective August 2, 2021. In this role, Pearson will be supporting 4-H After School programs in Crawfordville and Panacea along with 4-H Summer Camp.
Dr. Pienta said, “Christy Pearson is a gifted educator with a passion for STEM learning. Wakulla 4-H is very happy to welcome her to the UF/IFAS Wakulla Extension team.”
Christy Pearson is a graduate of the University of South Carolina at Coastal Carolina College in Conway, South Carolina as well as Midlands Technical College in Columbia, South Carolina. Pearson has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a professional degree in Practical Nursing.
She comes to 4-H after a distinguished 25-year career in nursing. A mother of three, Pearson moved to Wakulla in December 2020 with her husband and two youngest children.
Pearson said, “I enjoyed nursing, but I wanted to try something new. I grew up in 4-H. I decided that working with a program I have loved since I was a child would be a great way to give back.”
She has been serving as a 4-H teaching assistant since February 2021. Pearson has worked with the Panacea 4-H After School Program as well as the 4-H Summer Camp Program in Crawfordville.

Note: your child’s school must have a route that includes the Wakulla Community Center to use bus transportation to that location.
The Panacea 4-H After School Program is scheduled to resume operations after a facility upgrade project has been completed.
