Plant Clinic for Elementary Science Days

Nature Coast Master Gardener (NCMG’s) volunteers entertained, informed and engaged Bell and Trenton Elementary students during Science Days. We used portable herbarium books, turkey tangle frog fruit seedlings, sand spur, cotton bolls, warm and cool season Florida vegetable seed and deciduous tree saplings to deliver and enhance life science standards. Kids‘ comments, as they moved between stations, indicated how interested they were in what they were seeing.

Participating grades received Coreopsis basilis seed packets. These were a gift from program sponsors. I am hopeful the children understand how to sow seed and look forward to hearing of their success. Happy Gardening!
