Macon Community Garden Project
City Wide Educational Youth Day
In November of 2015, Adopt-a-Garden Master Gardeners joined neighborhood residents, high school students, and community volunteers at the Macon Community Garden Project City Wide Educational Youth Day.
Garden leaders Patricia Byrd and Lizette Kelly lead the way as 12 raised beds were constructed, filled with compost, and many of them were planted with fall vegetables seedlings. The high school students were given guidance in using garden tools and there were 75 boxes of fresh vegetables, grown in Calvary, Georgia, delivered to Macon community residents. The event was themed “Gardening and Communities Working Together In Unity.”
