On Saturday, May 5th, Leon County 4-H members traveled to Monticello to compete in District III Events. Youth presented illustrated talks and demonstrations on a broad range of topics from “The 4-H Horticulture Club” to “How to Run a Meeting” and even showed off self-choreographed dances.
The following youth will be moving on to the state competition in July to represent Leon County at State 4-H Congress:
Vincent Dewar – Individual Illustrated Talk – “Bringing Healthcare to Haiti”
Rogers Horne – Team Demonstration – “The Ends and Outs of Archery”
Cody Ptachick – Team Demonstration – “The Ends and Outs of Archery”
Competing in county and district events gives youth the opportunity to practice their written and verbal communication skills as well as encourages youth to explore and research topics of interest. All 4-H members (8 – 18) are eligible and encouraged to participate in county events. County events takes place every year in April. Winners move on to compete at districts in May.
