Without volunteers, hundreds of organizations could not continue to exist. 4-H is no exception! We rely on thousands of volunteers to provide educational programs to youth all over the world. In Jackson County we rely on volunteers to lead educational programs through 4-H clubs, school programs and community programs.
Each year we celebrate our volunteers at our 4-H Awards and Recognition Banquet, but we also like to show our thanks during National Volunteer Week. This annual celebration is observed in many countries, to promote and show appreciation for volunteerism and volunteering. Aside from the benefits they provide to our community, scientific studies have shown that individuals who volunteer enjoy psychological and physical benefits including increased satisfaction, improved sense of belonging, lower blood pressure, increased protection from Alzheimer’s, and decreased mortality.
Volunteers enable Jackson 4-H to reach over 1,700 youth each year and we are so grateful! Not only do these youth have the opportunity to build essential life skills, they have the opportunity to spend time with caring adults who share their time and talents with them.
We encourage everyone to consider what volunteers have done for them in their lives and take a moment to thank them. Sometimes a simple thank you can make the biggest difference and is a small price to pay for the immeasurable value of the special gifts of a volunteer. Be sure to thank yours today!
