Long time Jackson Extension office employee set to retire

If you have called or stopped by the UF/IFAS Jackson County Extension Office anytime during the last 20 years, no doubt you have been greeted by the friendly voice of Annette Hagans. In fact, this past February marked her 20th year with Jackson County. “Miss Annette” was hired in 1998 by now retired Jackson County Extension Director Ed Jowers. Mr. Jowers has been known to say that “hiring Annette Hagans was the best hire he ever made!”

Long-time Jackson County employee Annette Hagans.

Mrs. Hagans was recognized by Mr. Jowers as Employee of the Month in October, 2007 with an Employee Proclamation in which he stated: Whereas, as receptionist for the Extension Service, Ms. Hagans is the first encounter the public has when they visit or call the Extension Service and gives the first impression of the entire organization. She is a dedicated and professional employee and has extraordinary interpersonal skills, and is very positive in the performance of all aspects of her job. She can always be counted on to “pitch-in” and help other staffers when help is needed in getting a task done in a timely fashion. She is a real treasure and truly exemplifies the highest ideas of public service.

If you ask any of the current employees in the Extension office today, you will hear almost verbatim the same sentiments that Mr. Jowers shared. Miss Annette is always ready to help and knows the contact information for almost any agency or person you can imagine. However, after April 11th we will all be looking up that information for ourselves because that is officially her last day with the Extension Office.

****

Please make plans to drop by the Jackson County Extension Office Auditorium on April 10th from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM to wish her well. Light refreshments will be served.
