May is Older American’s Month. This year’s theme is ‘Blaze A Trail’.
There are so many things the younger generations could learn from seniors, and this can be a give-and-take process as seniors could learn from the younger generation. Think of the difference seniors make daily in the lives of others. They volunteer at the local library during the summer reading program, sit with neighbors, or have weekly dates with neighborhood children and play board games (and yes this is a novel thing for them—to be unplugged). Seniors embracing something they love and passing it on! So many people think they have nothing to offer because they are a senior, but they are wrong!
I visited with many seniors at our Senior Citizen Celebration and asked them to share their trail blazing efforts in our community. These outgoing citizens give generously of their time and talents to so many others.
Seniors are valued members of our community! Get to know them, embrace them and appreciate them! Watch them ‘Blaze A Trail’.
