Panhandle Crop Meeting – March 6

The 2014 Panhandle Crop Meeting will be held on Thursday, March 6th, at the Jackson County Agriculture Conference Center. Registration opens at 7:15 AM (Central) and concludes at noon with a sponsored lunch.

The Panhandle Crop Meeting will contain an array of presentations from extension specialists from the University of Florida, Georgia and Auburn University. The purpose of the meeting is to address important issues for peanut and cotton growers in 2014. Topics include variety selection, weed control, disease control, insect control and more. Pesticide CEU’s will be available.

  • 8:00 – Peanut Variety Selection – Barry Tillman, UF/IFAS Peanut Breeder
  • 8:30 – Peanut Production Update – Marshall Lamb, National Peanut Lab
  • 9:00 – Cotton Variety & Production Update – David Wright, UF/IFAS Extension Agronomist
  • 9:30 – Peanut Insects – Mark Abney, UGA Peanut Entomologist
  • 10:00 – Break
  • 10:30 – Weed Management – Barry Brecke, UF/IFAS Weed Specialist
  • 11:00 – Cotton Diseases – Austin Hagan, Auburn Plant Pathologist
  • 11:30 – Pesticide Core – Mark Mauldin, UF/IFAS Washington Co. Extension
  • 12:00 – Lunch and Conclusion
