Pesticide CEU’s Available Online

Recently, all UF/IFAS Extension person-to-person meetings have been rescheduled for a later date. Due to health concerns, there will be no in-person Pesticide Training nor Pesticide Applicator Exams until further notice. If your license is set to expire during this time, there will be a 60-day grace period from FDACS. However, Exam applicants and pest control operators can still get their Pesticide CEU’s (continuing education units).

Continuing Education Units

As the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) and Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) prioritize creating an online testing system, they are making most of their CEU modules available online.

If you are in the Pest Control industry (ie: golf courses, Mosquito Control, landscapers, pest control applicators, etc) you are required to log a certain number of hours of continuing education each year. In the absence of any corporate classes scheduled, you may wish to take some of those CEU’s online in your down time during this period of self quarantine. The latest info is also available from the UF/IFAS Green Industries Best Management Practices (GI-BMP) team.

We realize that some of you will require CEU’s to keep your Limited Commercial Fertilizer Applicator Certificate current. Since Extension will not be doing face-to-face training classes till mid-May, you can use the resources below:

The University of Florida’s IFAS Florida-Friendly Landscaping Program ™ offers two one-hour online courses. These normally cost $25.00 each. But now through June 1, 2020, these are discounted to $15.00 each. See the link HERE for more details and sign-up.

Core CEU’s are available from the UF/IFAS Extension Pesticide Information Office (PIO). Courses and information are listed on the CEU’s menu (gar right on the white bar): HERE.

You can also reach FDACS public database to find all approved CEU classes, including online classes HERE. Following are some tips for searching the FDACS database:

“The UF/IFAS Extension GI-BMP Program will continue to offer help should you have any questions. We look forward to a time when our in-person Extension classes are once again available for you and our industry partners to attend. Please share this information with your clients who have questions. In the meantime, stay safe and take care.” From Esen Momol, Director and Tom Wichman, State GI-BMP Program Coordinator.
