UF/IFAS’ plays a critical role in bringing science-based information to the people of Florida and we need to make every effort to ensure our audiences can access this information. Accessibility is not only a goal, it’s also the law. Fortunately, we have more tools than ever to make our documents and outreach items accessible, we just need to learn to use them (me included).
Training
The UF Center for Instructional Technology and Training (CITT) now offers self-paced, online workshops to help you learn how to create accessible content using programs you already use every day, including Word and PowerPoint, as well as PDFs and videos. The courses are available to faculty and staff, cover different types of accessibility needs and suggestions for making digital content more accessible. To register, visit https://citt.ufl.edu/workshops/self-paced-offerings/.
Design
As a reminder, when you work with the ICS design team for your materials, every item they create will be digitally accessible for screen reading devices. This designed right into the document so you can be confident in the materials you receive from UF/IFAS Communications.
