You’ve signed up to become a blogger on the Blogs.IFAS platform. You did all the training, and you are ready to start blogging. One crucial but sometimes overlooked step is designing a blog header that previews properly. Follow the steps below to ensure you make the most of your posts.
- Choose an interesting background or image for the base of the header.
- Engaging art will help with bringing attention to your post.
- Size the final header to 1338 px wide x 357 px tall.
- You will get an error when posting when attempting to publish a header that is not the correct size.
- Read Tennille Herron’s blog post for more information: https://blogs.ifas.ufl.edu/ifascomm/2017/08/08/terminalfour-t4-tip-16-center-important-information-for-featured-images-center-focus/
- Place the subject or text in the center third of the header and size no wider than 640 pixels.
- If you don’t, the subject or the text will be cut off when your blog previews on some feeds.
- Below are samples of the content not centered on the blog header file.
- Compress the file if it is too large.
- Use a service like https://tinypng.com/.
- Use the Featured Image section of the blogging platform to upload the header.
- Include alternative text for ADA compliance.
- Add alternative text in the Attachment Details area of the upload page.
