The purpose of 4-H is to develop leadership, character, and good citizenship in America’s youth. By emphasizing the development of the Head, Heart, Hands, and Health, 4-H leads youth to produce their best. Adult and youth volunteers lead local school and community 4-H clubs, advising and encouraging club members as they plan and carry out projects.

4-H is open to all youth ages 5 to 18 regardless of race, religion, sex, national origin or handicap and involves urban as well as rural youth.

Worried that 4-H is just about barns, cows, and hay? No need to worry, check us out…we explore activities with a wide variety of interest from sewing, cooking, archery (shooting sports) and even robotics! In fact, this year, the Holmes County 4-H is very excited to introduce SeaPerch, an innovative underwater robotics program that allows youth to learn to build an underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV). Youth can build a ROV from a kit comprised of low-cost, easily accessible parts, following a curriculum that teaches basic engineering and science concepts with a marine engineering theme. It is fun, challenging, and inspires youth to utilize teamwork and creativity to problem-solve.
