Cooking with Cast Iron Class – May 16

Cast iron cookware has enjoyed a major renaissance in recent years. Some benefits include it is inexpensive, widely available, and extremely durable. If properly cared for, cast-iron cookware can last forever. It has great heat retention properties and can be non-stick if seasoned properly.

Want to learn more about this long-time kitchen staple? Join us Tuesday, May 16, 6:00-8:30 pm, at the Washington County Ag Center East Wing Conference Room, 1424 Jackson Avenue, Chipley. We will discuss the basics of cast iron and Dutch ovens. We’ll cover a wide variety of topics – seasoning new pans, cleaning after cooking, proper storage, restoring a rusted piece, open fire cooking tips, just to name a few. We’ll also provide many recipes that are specifically for cooking in cast iron.

Cost is $5.00, which includes materials.
