The Holmes County 4-H Program through the University of Florida IFAS Extension will hold its first 4-H Air Rifle Club Meeting on Friday, March 15, 2013 from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM at the Holmes County Ag Center.

This 4-H club will be open to a maximum of 20 enrolled 4-H youth ages 10 and up. Youth wanting to participate in Air Rifle must contact Niki Crawson, Holmes County 4-H Agent, by Tuesday, March 12, 2013, to RSVP a spot. If youth are not currently 4-H members, they can still enroll in Holmes County 4-H and get involved in the 4-H Air Rifle Club before the RSVP deadline.

Participating youth are not allowed to bring their own air rifles at this time.

All participating youth will be required to have a 4-H Participation Waiver Form on file in the 4-H Office. Click here to download. Return the form via email, fax (850) 547-7433 or return to the 4-H Office before the March meeting in order to practice shooting.

The 4-H Shooting Sports Program teaches young people the safe and responsible use of firearms, principles of archery and hunting basics. Lifelong skill development is one of the main benefits of involvement in the 4-H Shooting Sports Program and applies to both youth and adults involved in the program. Specifically, the 4-H Shooting Sports Program is designed to provide thorough instruction in shooting sports safety by teaching youth the proper use of firearms and equipment. In addition, the 4-H Shooting Sports Program helps youth to develop important life skills for success such as self-confidence, safety, personal discipline, responsibility, leadership, and communication.
