Mooove over, Dr. Place, there’s a new milker in town!
Chris DeCubellis, Dairy/Animal Sciences 4-H State Specialized Agent, proved his milking mettle at the UF/IFAS Milk-Off, held September 28 at the UF Dairy Research Unit. Chris out-milked even legen-dairy milker Dr. Nick Place, UF/IFAS Dean for Extension. Chris won the honor of representing IFAS in the Sunbelt Ag Expo’s annual milking contest in Moultrie, GA–where he splashed away the competition again!
Chris tweeted: “I was proud to represent UF/IFAS at the Sunbelt Ag Expo in Moultrie, Georgia at the cow milking contest. I am very blessed and thankful that I was the winner! I filled up my graduated cylinder to overflowing with milk. I was competing with the best milkers from the University of Georgia, Auburn, and the University of Kentucky. Go Gators! I guess this means Florida is the SEC champion in cow milking!”
Congratulations Chris, and thank you to everyone who milked, nominated or donated. We raised $1,000, half supporting the 4-H Dairy Program (Chris’ area of choice) and half supporting the Field & Fork Campus Food Initiative. Keep an eye out for next year’s nominations!
