Gadsden County 4-H Clubs

Gadsden County 4-H Youth Development program offers several types of club settings from community, in-school, after-school, and special project to help youth become their best while learning leadership, citizenship, and life skills. Gadsden County 4-H is looking to expand to areas of the county without a 4-H Community club. Gadsden 4-H Clubs are open to youth 5 – 18. Youth age is determine by September 1 of the year.

2nd Tuesday at 7:00 pm This club is open to youth who have interests in small or large animals. Come learn how to wok with and care for your livestock, choose quality animals, serve your community, and have fun. . You don’t have to own an animal to participate in this club.Club meets at the Extension office. Youth must be 8 or above to show large animals in 4-H sponsored shows. 3rd Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. This horse club focuses on the larger horses. Come learn how to work with and care for your horse while making friends and having fun. You do not have own a horse to participate in this club. Club meest at the Extension office. Joining 4-H

4-H is a community of young people across Gadsden County who are learning leadership, citizenship, and life skills. You can enroll in 4-H at http://florida4h.org/getinvolved.

Requirements/Recommendations:

  • Youth must have turned 5 before September 1. Youth must not have reached their 19 birthday prior to September 1.
  • Submit enrollment packet
  • Follow the guidelines established by the Gadsden County 4-H Code of Conduct (to be completed annually) 4-H Code of Conduct
  • Have fun
  • Attend club meetings on regular basis
  • Participate in community service activities and other activities planned by club
  • Select a project/subject matter area to gain new skills and knowledge
  • Submit record book(s) to show what you’ve done and skills and knowledge gained
  • Share what you’ve learned by doing a speech or demonstration at club meetings and County Events
  • Receive recognition for your efforts
  • Make new friends
  • Develop skills that will last you a lifetime
  • Participate in other 4-H County, District, and State Activities
  • Expand your horizon through your 4-H experience.
  • Make the best better while learning by doing.

Youth with Multi-county 4-H Enrollments Guidelines

There are some youth who have multi-county enrollments where Gadsden 4-H is their secondary county. They will do all event registrations through their primary county. They will also do all competitive events through their primary county this includes county events, Standard of Excellence, General 4-H fair stuff, etc. Club specific recognition for project work that is through Gadsden 4-H will be recognized through Gadsden. Signatures will be provided for project related work in Gadsden (example: Youth is a member of Gadsden 4-H Livestock club (Gadsden 4-H is their secondary county) and they are going to do a livestock show and registration form requires Agent’s signature. Gadsden Agent will sign form.)

There is no cost to join 4-H. There is an annual insurance fee of $1.00 for all clubs except the 4-H Saddle Club and 4-H Shooting Sports which is $2.00.
