Numerous Panhandle farmers and ranchers credit the success of their operations to Andy Andreasen, retired Agent Emeritus and former Washington County Extension Director.
He received his training at UF in Animal Science and Ag and Extension Education. Andreasen had a distinguished career that spanned almost 40 years and began working for Extension in 1983 in Jackson County, establishing the Northwest Florida Beef Conference and pioneering the UF/IFAS Beef Cattle Reproduction Management Schools.
He was passionate about working with youth and coached numerous livestock and meats judging teams, giving young people the life skills they need to pursue careers in agriculture, veterinary medicine, human medicine, and law.
Following retirement in 2012,Andreasen returned to his 98-year-old family farm to carry on a cow-calf operation, enjoy nature and do a little fishing. He currently resides in Marianna with his wife Jenny.
