The Agricultural Assistant II provides day-to-day operational leadership for greenhouse, transplant-production, field, and research-support activities in the GCREC Tomato Breeding Program. The employee coordinates and performs crop production and maintenance; operates tractors, trucks, trailers, sprayers, transplanting, and seed-processing equipment; supports planting, harvesting, seed extraction, and research data collection; and trains and directs assigned support personnel. The employee independently recognizes routine operational needs, prioritizes time-sensitive work, and troubleshoots greenhouse, irrigation, equipment, and field-production problems within established research, safety, pesticide-label, and University requirements. A distinctive responsibility is serving as a reliable operator of the tractor-drawn tomato harvester at GCREC and at off-site cooperating grower farms. The position helps provide the operational continuity and capacity required by a large, physically demanding tomato breeding and field-research program.

The Precision Water Management Laboratory in the Agricultural and Biological Engineering Department at the University of Florida addresses the application and development of precision agricultural water and nutrient management technologies and strategies to (i) enhance/improve water use efficiency, (ii) reduce agricultural water use, and (iii) reduce the impacts of agricultural management practices on downstream resources, users, and water quality.
This position is for intermediate-level scientific work focused on managing the Florida Stakeholder Engagement Program (STEP) for corn and cotton. The incumbent coordinates STEP trial logistics, grower/stakeholder communication, assists with field and laboratory data collection for corn and cotton research, and modifies and carries out established research protocols in support of departmental research objectives.

In this role, you will lead UF/IFAS Extension EFNEP in Orange County, supervising, training, and supporting a team of paraprofessional Nutrition Educators who deliver research-based nutrition education in community settings. You will build relationships with community partners, recruit program sites, and promote EFNEP throughout the county.
You will oversee the county’s annual program plan and program operations, monitor progress toward program goals, maintain accurate records, and complete required reports. You will work closely with the County Extension Director and statewide EFNEP team to ensure program quality and compliance with UF and grant requirements. You will also participate in Extension meetings, advisory and community activities, EFNEP trainings, and ongoing professional development. Travel throughout the county and occasional overnight travel are required.
