Extension Farm Field Day (FLYER)
The UF/IFAS West Florida Research and Education Center and county extension agents will host the Extension Farm Field Day on August 20, 2013. Our goal is to help growers understand some of the positive impacts, as well as the challenges of modifying agricultural practices to make row crop production more diverse and efficient. We will discuss some of the benefits and limitations of current production practices and of agricultural technologies that might be used in the near future in the Panhandle.
Field day topics include: Early and Late Cotton Varieties and Insect Management, Peanut Disease Identification and Fungicide Programs, Soybean Varieties and Insect Control Options (What to do About Kudzu Bug), The Importance of Herbicide Tolerance in Row Crops for Yield and Weed Control, Production and Environmental Considerations for Growing Biofuel Crops as Part of the Panhandle’s Cropping Systems, New and Emerging Peanut Varieties, and Management of Foliar diseases in Cotton.
Registration and check-in the day of the event will begin at 8:00 a.m., with the event itself beginning at 8:30 a.m. and ending at 12:00 p.m. with a catered lunch. The field day will be held at the UF/IFAS West Florida Research and Education Center located at 4253 Experiment Road, Jay, FL 32565.
