4-H Task Force Report Completed

This is the report from a 12-member task force made of up Escambia County residents appointed by Dr. Nick Place, Dean of UF/IFAS Extension. The task force, which began work in November 2012, was asked to become familiar with the University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences Extension service and its 4-H Youth Development Program in Escambia County.

It met regularly to fulfill its fact-finding charge to identify options for meeting the 4-H animal science and outdoor education needs of the overall Extension 4-H Youth Development Program in Escambia County, as well as complement the new 4-H Center to be built adjacent to the Extension office on Stefani Road.

The report contains detailed multiple proposals about land purchase options as well as “non-land” options that would use existing property and facilities to meet current and future 4-H needs.

The task force committee submitted the report to the dean for review in mid-June. He does not have a set deadline by which he must make a decision.
