Youth enrolled in 4-H participate in one of the following types of clubs or groups:
4-H Community Clubs. Members and leaders meet as a group on a regular schedule in homes, or in near by community meeting facilities. The members, under the direction of trained volunteer leaders, plan their own programs, elect officers, take part in community service activities, and engage in a variety of 4-H project work. The major factor in common among members is geographical proximity.
4-H Project Clubs. These organized subject matter clubs are similar in operation to the Community 4-H clubs, except that members are all enrolled in the same project or a limited range of related projects. Examples are project clubs that work in the following areas; horse, marine science or clothing.
4-H School Enrichment. 4-H School Enrichment programs are Extension-coordinated learning activities planned in cooperation with public and private schools. These programs are supplements to the on-going school curriculum.
4-H Special Interest Clubs. 4-H Special Interest programs are short-term, typically volunteer-led learning activities on a specific subject. Youth enroll in one or a series of learning experiences directed at a particular subject matter interest. These experiences have been planned prior to the member enrolling and have a definite planned end.
4-H Mass Media Groups or Individuals. Members enroll in 4-H, observe certain selected 4-H TV shows, keep records, and complete certain assignments given on the TV program. When no organized club is available, a youth may enroll as an Individual 4-H Member. Such a member would enroll in a project and carry it out with the counsel of an adult advisor. There are many Projects for you to do in 4-H!!!
A 4-H project is something for you to do in the sciences, family and community sciences or recreation that helps you learn a better way of doing things. You will be responsible for selecting your own project. You will have fun and learn. You may select from the following project areas;
