Attending a state college and transferring to a university allows students flexibility and choice in their education. The University of Florida College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS) now offers the Gator Tracks Transfer Pathway in partnership with Polk State College, to provide a seamless transition for associate degree students aspiring to finish their bachelor’s degree at UF.
Students interested in one of 20 eligible CALS majors, such as agricultural operations management, geomatics, entomology and nematology or wildlife ecology and conservation, can now work hand-in-hand with a CALS academic advisor as they prepare to transition from their associate degree to a UF bachelor’s degree.
“There are so many talented students at our state and community colleges, and we are committed to giving them the resources and support they need to succeed if they want to earn their bachelor’s degree at UF,” said CALS Dean Kati Migliaccio. “Gator Tracks is a game-changer, eliminating barriers and making several majors more accessible.”
The program offers a comprehensive suite of benefits, including one-on-one advising with CALS academic advisors, on-campus and virtual transfer workshops and expedited transfer admissions decisions.
“Polk State College is proud to expand its partnership with the University of Florida to provide this seamless pathway for students to pursue their academic and career goals in agricultural and life sciences,” said Polk State College President Angela Garcia Falconetti. “Polk State is positioned to prepare students for success in UF’s baccalaureate degree programs and future careers in industries critical to our region and the State of Florida.”
Each year, about 30% of the CALS graduating class started at UF as a transfer student. Applications to join the Gator Tracks Transfer Pathway are currently open for students at Polk State College. Students who are interested in getting started at Polk State College and pursuing an agriculture-related career should email agripolk@polk.edu.
