Meredith: Hey JP! Thanks so much for meeting up with us at the Florida FFA Convention. We wanted to catch up with you before you begin preparing as a national officer candidate. We wanted to talk to a student in one of our 23 majors, so we have 23 questions for you. Are you ready?

JP: Sounds good!

Meredith: Let’s go! Why did you choose your major?

JP: I used to do a lot of land judging in high school and everything that we have starts with the dirt.

Meredith: What is your favorite part of being a soil and water sciences student?

JP: Definitely the advisors.

Meredith: On a scale of one to ten, how exciting is it to be back at the FFA convention in person?

JP: An eleven. For sure.

Meredith: As a UF student, what’s your favorite thing to do?

JP: Probably study chemistry.

Meredith: Describe yourself in a hashtag.

JP: Hashtag—Hashtag needs time to think.

Meredith: What’s your favorite spot to hang out on campus?

JP: Plaza of the Americas, under a tree.

Meredith: What is one thing that people don’t know about you?

JP: One thing people don’t know about me—I’m kind of an introvert.

Meredith: What is one thing you want to experience before you graduate?

JP: An in-person football game, for sure.

Meredith: What are three things that you can’t live without?

JP: Oh, oranges—a clean bed to sleep in and a Coke icee.

Meredith: Would you say your personality is more orange or blue?

JP: I’d have to say definitely blue.

Meredith: What is one word your friends would use to describe you?

JP: Probably funny.

Meredith: Where is your favorite place to eat on campus?

JP: I would say Firehouse Subs.

Meredith: If you could switch lives with someone for a day, who would you choose?

JP: Probably the President. Just cause I don’t want to do it forever but like one day would be enough for me.

Meredith: If you could study abroad to any country while at UF, where would it be?

JP: I’d have to say Iceland.

Meredith: What is the best thing that happened to you today?

JP: I got to do a workshop with some pretty awesome members.

Meredith: What are you most looking forward to as a national FFA officer candidate?

JP: Getting to meet new people and representing the state of Florida.

JP: I’m absolutely a night owl.

Meredith: Favorite season?

JP: Winter.

Meredith: Describe your favorite movie without telling us the title.

JP: The new boyfriend of Ramona Flowers has to battle her seven evil exes.

Meredith: I don’t think I know that one.

JP: Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.

Meredith: Okay. If you walked out on a stage and the audience expected a concert, what song would you sing?

JP: Probably Neon Moon by Brooks and Dunn.

Meredith: What are your summer plans?

JP: Summer plans—I’m at a summer camp! I’m teaching kids how to flip canoes while they’re in the water.

Meredith: And where is that at?

JP That’s in Leesburg.

Meredith: Okay that’s awesome! What’s one smell that reminds you of home?

JP: Probably blueberries.

Meredith: And what is your dream job?

JP: I want to be an ag teacher.
