Broward County 4-H: 2024–2025 Year in Review

In 2024–2025, Broward 4-H empowered youth to lead, learn, and give back to their community. Through hands-on programs, state and national experiences, and the support of dedicated volunteers, our members are building the skills to become tomorrow’s leaders.

Our Year at a Glance

  • 226 enrolled 4-H members in 9 clubs
  • 35 dedicated volunteers contributing over 2,000 service hours
  • Workshops & events reaching over 1,000 youth participants across Broward County Schools and our community
  • $7,500 in fair premiums & over $2,250 in scholarships awarded to members.
  • Local, state, & national representation in leadership, STEM, healthy living, and sportsmanship

Building Skills and Community Impact

This year, Broward 4-H youth:

  • Explored healthy living, STEM, and environmental education, including a native prairie restoration project at Fern Forest.
  • Developed leadership and public speaking skills through club activities and county events that cultivate tomorrow’s land stewards.
  • Represented Broward at state and national competitions and conferences, gaining real-world skills and confidence.

Youth experiences spanned from local events like our March 4-Health Virtual 5K and Florida Panthers STEM Day, to state events including 4-H University, iLead, and multiple state archery matches. Broward members also stepped onto the national stage, with participants in the National 4-H Shooting Sports Contest, Ignite by 4-H, and Southern Region Teen Leadership Conference.

Powered by Volunteers

Our volunteers are the heart of Broward 4-H. This year, 8 new volunteers joined our team, expanding opportunities for hands-on learning. Together, volunteers led clubs, mentored youth, and delivered programs that directly benefit our community.

A Year of Team Transitions

Our team also grew and evolved this year. I joined as the new Broward County 4-H Agent, bringing new energy and vision to our programs. We celebrated Alexa Tillett, our Education Training Specialist, as she moved on to pursue higher education, and we welcomed two college interns (Amy Suarez and Leah Acevedo) who brought creativity and energy to summer programs.

Why It Matters

4-H is more than clubs and competitions. It’s about:

  • Youth developing life skills that prepare them for college, careers, and leadership roles.
  • Volunteers creating mentorship opportunities that change lives.
  • Stronger communities built through service, skill development, and civic engagement.

As we look to the next 4-H year, we are excited to expand programs, reach more youth, and deepen our community impact. We invite local businesses, organizations, and community members to partner with us—through volunteering, sponsorships, and program collaborations—to help us continue growing the next generation of leaders.

Together, we are shaping Broward’s future—one youth at a time.
