The Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee (DGAC), United States Department of Agriculture, and the US Department of Health Services has recently recognized beef’s role in a healthy lifestyle. National Cattlemen’s Beef Association and CEO Colin Woodall stated, “the DGAC report findings suggest that many Americans would benefit from getting more nutrients like protein, iron and choline, which are readily available in beef.” Beef associations and cattlemen have worked hard to protect the science based nutritional advantages of beef as part of a balanced diet. The Beef Checkoff program is one of the ways our National Cattlemen’s Association has marketed, “Beef It’s What’s For Dinner” campaign. This DGAC report is used in the development of the 2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans. The public comment for this report is now open until August 13, 2020.
