Elliott’s Lovegrass

Eragrostis elliottii

Elliott’s Lovegrass is a perennial grass found in Florida flatwoods, sandhills, prairies, and disturbed sites. Lovegrass is a bunch grass but is not often noticed until the delicate flowering structures appear. There are so many flowers on this plant that is turns landscapes into a beige haze, typically blooming in fall. Seeds are tiny yet prolific, feeding invertebrates and small birds.

To see this plant look for very wispy, fine looking grass, that is the flowering structures.
