St. John’s Wort
St. John’s Wort is an evergreen perennial shrub found in Florida. Blooms typically appear in late spring but can be found throughout the year. Flowers are bright lemon-yellow and showy, with four petals and four sepals. Stems are woody at the base.
This plant occurs in moist flatwoods, sandhills, and ruderal areas. St. John’s Wort can only be found in Florida and some southern parts of Georgia. This plant is not the same species commonly found in supplements and consumption can be dangerous.
