Tarleton State University is hiring a tenure-track, nine-month undergraduate and graduate teaching (60%), research/scholarly activity (30%), and service (10%) position in the Department of Animal Sciences and Veterinary Technology.
Proposed employment date is September 1, 2018 or until successful candidate is identified.
Essential Functions:
- Teaching: Teach graduate and undergraduate courses in animal science related to reproduction, systems physiology/endocrinology and other appropriate animal science courses. The successful candidate will be expected to develop specialty and graduate courses in reproduction and physiology; and may be required to deliver courses at off campus sites and/or using alternative delivery methods. The successful candidate will develop and implement an effective teaching program, using appropriate methodology, technology and other tools; remain current in his/her discipline and appropriately update course content to reflect current levels of knowledge in the discipline; develop a system for ongoing evaluation of both teaching and learning, including expectations of student competency and student learning outcomes.
- Research/Scholarly Activity: The successful candidate will be expected to develop a sustainable research program in animal science appropriate to industry and regional needs, and in an area of interest to the candidate.
- Service: Other duties include recruitment of students, advising of undergraduate and graduate students, advise student organizations, development of internship programs, and placement of graduates. The successful candidate will be expected to assist with animal science events on campus and in the local community, including 4-H and FFA judging contests, seminars and other events as appropriate.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Animal Sciences, or closely related discipline, with an emphasis in reproductive physiology
- ABD status may be considered as long as all degree requirements, including dissertation, defense of dissertation, and comprehensive examinations, have been successfully completed by time of appointment
- Evidence of potential or actual success in teaching, research, and service is required
