AEC Gathering – January & February AttaGators

The faculty, staff, and students in the Department of Agricultural Education and Communication (AEC) work diligently each day to embody the core values of our department:

Each week, we gather as a department to explore new ideas, strengthen connections, and celebrate the achievements of our peers through the AttaGator awards. These awards recognize individuals who go above and beyond in exemplifying AEC’s values. We are proud to honor the following recipients for January and February:

We are One Team

AEC Graduate Committee
Spring graduate admissions is a complex and essential process, and the AEC Graduate Committee plays a crucial role in ensuring its success. Their hard work, with special recognition to Peggy Lowenstein, often goes unnoticed but is vital to the department’s continued growth and efficiency.

Catherine Clark
Catherine consistently demonstrates her commitment to teamwork and problem-solving. Her willingness to assist in any situation, regardless of whether it falls within her official role, is a testament to her dedication to AEC.

We Achieve the Extraordinary

Peggy Lowenstein
Peggy’s outstanding contributions to graduate program support have earned her the CALS Excellence in Graduate Program Support Award. This recognition highlights her dedication to fostering academic success and providing exceptional service to the department.

Sebastian Galindo
Sebastian’s appointment as a UNESCO Chair is a groundbreaking achievement, marking the first time UF has held this prestigious position. His work will focus on evaluating educational programs, placing UF among an elite group of institutions making a global impact.

We Build Relationships

Julie Wilson
Julie brought holiday cheer to the department by organizing the Secret Santa (Snow Buddies) event in December, creating a fun and engaging experience for all who participated.

Becky Cook
Becky’s dedication to recruitment efforts has been instrumental in expanding AEC’s reach. At the Florida Future Educators conference, she introduced a new audience to agricultural education, engaged with potential students, and strengthened UF’s presence at the event. Her proactive approach and follow-ups show her dedicated recruitment efforts.

We Collaborate Enthusiastically

Cordell Cowdrey
When UF implemented new computer security requirements, Cordell provided timely and thorough support to Mac users navigating the transition. His responsiveness and expertise ensured a smooth process for those affected.

Arati Joshi
Arati is known for her willingness to assist beyond her assigned duties. Her selfless service and proactive approach make a significant impact on those around her.

Brooke Brammer
Brooke has been an outstanding colleague, providing invaluable support in numerous areas, including recent assistance with Quality Matters proposals. Her contributions have made the workload more manageable for her peers.

We Develop People

Renzo Antonio
Renzo demonstrated his commitment to mentorship by providing guidance and support to a prospective international graduate student. His willingness to share insights and advice exemplifies AEC’s culture of development and academic collaboration.

Ricky Telg and the AEC Awards Committee
Under Dr. Telg’s leadership, the AEC Awards Committee has actively fostered a “culture of nomination,” ensuring that faculty members receive recognition for their hard work and contributions to the field.
