AEC Gathering – September AttaGators

We are One Team. We Develop People. We Build Relationships. We Collaborate Enthusiastically. We Lead with Integrity. We Achieve the Extraordinary.

The faculty, staff, and students in the Department of Agricultural Education and Communication work diligently each day to embody the core values of AEC. Every week, we come together for AEC Gatherings, where we explore new topics, connect with one another, and recognize individuals nominated for AttaGators. These awards celebrate those who exemplify our departmental values, as nominated by their peers.

Below are the AEC AttaGators for the month of September:

We are One Team.

Caroline Barnett, Marissa Cassaway, and Caitlynne Youmans

Caroline, Marissa, and Caitlynne were nominated for volunteering to design Canvas course images for the AEC courses. While image design may seem like a small task, their creations serve as the inspiration for the course design and layout, and are the first thing students see when they access their course in Canvas. They are generously contributing their time and skills with no compensation other than the satisfaction of supporting the department.

We Collaborate Enthusiastically.

Dr. Laura Greenhaw

Dr. G was nominated for constantly looking for opportunities to collaborate and include her graduate students in meaningful projects. Whether it is research projects and data collection, development of course materials, applications for grants and awards, or publications and presentations… Dr. G strives to include her graduate students. Her nominator said she embodies the saying, “team work makes the dream work.”

We Develop People.

Dr. Natalie Coers

Dr. Coers was nominated for her overall support of the AEC department. Her nominator said she greatly “enhances our academic endeavors both internally and externally.”

Carrie Baker

Carrie Baker was nominated for working diligently both on and off campus, collaborating with various professionals nationwide. Her efforts are commendable.

We Build Relationships.

Dorcas was nominated for organizing and facilitating the first AEC Graduate Student Alliance social event. She was a great host for the first annual virtual game night. Her efforts to make sure all students in the department feel included (including online students and those in different seasons) are apparent and appreciated.

We Lead with Integrity.

Dr. Natalie Coers and the AEC for All Committee

“In uncertain times related to DEI issues at UF, the AEC for All committee under Natalie’s leadership, is working to chart a path to make AEC a place where everyone can belong,” Dr. Coers nominator said.

We Achieve the Extraordinary.

Cordell Cowdrey

“When the technology in the Rolfs 306 classroom failed, Cordell didn’t hesitate. At a moment’s notice, he connected remotely and expertly helped troubleshoot the issue, ensuring everything ran smoothly,” shared his nominator.
