A Very Merry CEU Day: 12/7/18

Tis the season for joy and good tidings, and what better way to celebrate than to experience the merriment of not having to renew your pesticide license with testing? UF/IFAS Sumter County Extension is hosting a CEU Day on Friday, December 7th, 2018.

Tickets are $50 and can be purchased at https://merryceuday2018.eventbrite.com from now through December 5th at 11:59PM. Lunch is included.

This is a 6-Hour Limited Pesticide Applicator License Training. A total of 6 Maximum CEUs can be earned in this program. 2 CORE AND 4 PA/4 OT/4 LLM/4 LLO/4 CLO

8:15 am – 8:30 am: Check-In
8:30 – 9:20am: Fall Insect Identification –Tips on identifying insect pests, diversity, their damage and how to best treat them.
9:20 – 10:10am: Autumn Scouting Plants for IPM – The importance of scouting insect pests of the landscape and turf, tools and methods used to scout properly.
10:10 – 10:20: Break
10:20 – 11:10am: Diseases of Roses – identifying diseases of roses, methods of spread and techniques to control outbreak.
11:10-12:00 pm: Autumn CORE Safety Review – CORE and Labels, PPE and Environmental Safety. Understanding pesticide labels.
12:00 – 12:45 pm: Lunch Provided – Collect Surveys, Hand Out CEUS FOR PART ONE

12:45 – 1:35 pm: Autumn Limited Pesticide Safety Review, IPM.
• Biological, Cultural, Chemical, Mechanical and Physical Damage to Plants.
• How Pesticides Work and/Fail.
• Calculating Proper Application Rates
1:35 – 2:25 pm: Pesticide Residues in Food: The Public Health Foundation reviews the truth about pesticide residues and its effect on our choices in fruits and vegetables. It addresses research-based studies on populations and what impact is has on our health and on the claim of Autism of boys in a selected population study.
2:25 pm: Fall out! Collect Surveys, Hand out CEUS FOR PART TWO
