A Successful Peanut Butter Event!
Thank you Levy County! as a result of donor generosity and partnerships with collection sites throughout the county, we were able to provide more than 1,300 pounds of peanut butter to local pantries!
High Demand for Food Assistance
Each jar collected in Levy County remains in Levy County. The peanut butter collected in Levy County will be distributed through food banks in Levy County this December. To date, two food banks have been vetted: Children’s Table and Cedar Key Food Pantry. Each jar collected is also counted for a percentage match thanks to the partnership with Florida Peanut Producers Association and Florida Peanut Federation. That percentage match will go our neighbors in Escambia County.
“During challenging economic times, the nonprofits, civic organizations, and faith community find their groups serving in the gap that would otherwise leave a family with empty plates” states Dr. Rachel Pienta, 4-H Youth Development Agent, UF/IFAS Extension Wakulla County.
