Trees donated by Chestnut Hill Nursery, Alachua, Florida to been given away by the Jackson County Master Gardeners to homeowners to replace trees lost from Hurricane Michael.

Re-Tree JC – Saturday, August 24

The Jackson County Master Gardeners received a donation of an assortment of small trees from Chestnut Hill Nursery, Alachua, Florida to been given away to homeowners to replace trees lost from Hurricane Michael. On Saturday, August 24 the Master Gardeners will host a Re-Tree JC tree giveaway at the Jackson County Extension Office starting at 8:00 AM until the inventory is given out. Each household will receive 1 tree in a 3 gallon pot and 2 small seedling trees, on a first come – first served basis. The Jackson County Extension Office is located at 2741 Penn Avenue – Marianna, Florida.

The assortment of donated trees include a limited number of live oak, swamp white oak, Dunstan chestnut, southern crabapple, swamp chestnut oak, flowering pear, Chinese fringe tree, redbud, purple leaf plum, and weeping willow. The selection of each variety range from as few as 7 to 240, so if there is a specific tree you would prefer, arrive early. The largest selection in the inventory are the swamp white oak, and purple leaf plum in 3 gallon pots, and live oak seedlings.
