Summer day-camps take on a new look for 2020

Summer is here and so are day camps! While we are not able to hold our traditional day camps, we are offering several virtual day camp experiences. These day-camps are free and open to all youth 5-18, no matter where you live or if you are a 4-H member. Yes, you heard us correctly, these camps are free, and… with some of the camps, you have an opportunity to win a gift card, activity kits, and 4-H items. During these camps, youth will gain knowledge and life skills while having fun participating in hands-on activities.

We are offering 8-day camp experiences:

Florida Wildlife – Launching July 6 – Ages 8-13 years old – On land, in the water and everywhere in between, Florida has thousands of animals that call it home! Join us as we dive deeper into a few of our native wildlife species and their relatives around the world. We’ll be doing scavenger hunts, birdwatching, science experiments, and more as we learn all about the creatures that swim, soar, and crawl all around us! Youth who complete each session and report back on the results of their activity will be entered in a drawing for a $25 Amazon® Gift Card.

Clay County 4-H Nature Retreat Virtual Day Camp – Launching July 10 – Ages 5-11 Years Old – Dive into the natural side of Clay County through our Nature Retreat Virtual Day Camp! Join us online for a 6-part adventure, each lesson taking you to a different park with a fun activity. We will learn about local ecosystems while hiking, biking, and fishing through natural parks. Discover local wildlife species and get up close and personal with the environments of North Florida. Challenge yourself to beat biking times and master fitness courses. Bring your family along to get out of the house and explore Clay County! This virtual adventure will be hosted online and can be completed at your own pace. There will be no live zoom sessions. This virtual camp is intended for youth age 5-11. Youth who complete all six sessions will receive an awesome 4-H water bottle.

All About Rabbits – Launching July 13 – Ages 8-18 – We will explore what it takes to own a rabbit, care for it, as well as the many types of breeds there are. We will end in a lesson in Showmanship to prepare youth who want to compete at the Fair. Youth who complete each session will be entered into a drawing for a rabbit care package.

Agriculture and Animals – Launching July 15 – Ages 5-10 Years Old – The 2020 Ag and Animals Virtual Camp is a modified version of our in-person camp. During this camp, youth will explore the worlds of bees, gardening, owls, and sea turtles while hearing stories, participating in lessons with hands-on activities, and watching educational videos. A few of the activities we will have: dissecting owls pellets, building bee house, gardening, and more!) The first 50 youth to register will receive a kit with materials to help them with their activities. Those campers beyond the first 50, will receive links where they can purchase the materials to do the hands-on activities. We will provide one 4-H item (TBD) to each camper that participates and completes all the follow-up questions.
