FWC Makes Changes to the Red Grouper Bag Limit

In 2013 the recreational catch limit for red grouper was exceeded. Because of this the 2014 season was reduced in federal waters. In response many Florida anglers and for-hire captains requested a change in the bag limit to avoid a shorten season next year. During the November 20 meeting in Key Largo the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission agreed to reduce the bag limit for red grouper in Gulf of Mexico state waters (excluding Monroe County) from 4 per person to 2 per person. This will go into effect January 1, 2015. For more information visit www.MyFWC.com/Commission and click “commission meetings” then search for this topic.
