The UF/IFAS Wakulla County Extension Service has a new Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) faculty member. Samantha Kennedy joined the team on Monday, April 3, 2017.
She brings a wealth of Extension experience having served as the Family and Consumer Sciences agent in Manatee County, Florida for nearly ten years. She specializes in nutrition, health and wellness, food safety, and financial literacy education for youth and adults.
Sam, to her friends, grew up in Deerfield Beach, Florida, and attended the University of Florida. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology and Cell Science, and Nutritional Sciences in 2000 and received her Master’s degree in Agricultural Education and Communication in 2002.
She has served twice as the president of the Florida Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences and it other leadership roles at the county, state, and national associations.
Sam’s colleagues honored her in 2016 with the Distinguished Service Award for her years of service to the FCS Extension profession in Florida.
She is looking forward to continuing her career in Wakulla County and building a strong Extension educational program focused on achieving positive results and impacts in the lives of residents.
Sam is looking forward to meeting and working with the county’s residents. She hopes her enthusiasm, knowledge, and experience will be an asset to the Wakulla Extension team and contribute to Extension’s continued success in the community.
