Songbird Workshop and Pesticide Training Coming Soon

The UF/IFAS Wakulla County Extension Office is offering two classes of interest to residents in the coming week. These programs are open to all area residents and will be held at the Extension Office at 84 Cedar Avenue in Crawfordville.

The SonSong Bird Workshop by Cacthygbird Nesting Class will be held February 9, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. Participants will learn the techniques and skills to attract and retain songbirds in the home landscape.

Each participant will receive a bluebird nesting box kit to assemble and receive directions for placing the box in the landscape. The class cost $25 to cover materials and is limited to 30 students.

The General Certification Standards for Certified Pesticide Applicator Class will be held February 10, 2016 at 8:30 a.m. This state certification is a necessary step to attaining additional licenses for pesticide-based businesses and agricultural producers which apply these chemicals.

At the completion of the training the exam will be administered to those who wish to take it. The cost of the training session is $20.
