canned mushroomsA “Grow Your Own Mushrooms” class will be held at the UF/IFAS Wakulla County Extension Office on Friday, March 27, at 6:30 p.m. Participants will learn about the tools and techniques to grow these tasty, high value treats! Every student will have the opportunity for a hands-on experience to acquire the skills necessary for successfully growing mushrooms. The recent “Cottage Foods Law” will be reviewed for those who may have an interest in selling fresh mushrooms to the public.

The fee for the class is $25 for materials. Every student will receive their own log for mushroom production and seed plugs for getting started at home (additional logs will be available for a small fee). Printed growing directions and a list of suppliers will also be included.
