Weed of the Week- Fireweed

Fireweed

Fireweed is a native Florida plant that is a common problem during winter months in areas of bare ground (such as feed/watering areas, or shaded areas under trees). This plant has stinging hairs that embed themselves in the skin, causing severe irritation and stress that may lead to weight loss, difficulty swallowing, or difficulty breathing.

Fireweed cant be controlled by a multitude of herbicides, including GrazonNext HL, Remedy Ultra, and/or Pastureguard HL. These herbicides can be applied any time of the year to warm season grasses and do not have a grazing restriction unless used in pastures with lactating dairy cow.
