Adults with diabetes who take insulin need key nutrients like carbohydrates. A method for managing blood glucose levels is called “Carb” counting. Here is a helpful list of some foods that contain carbohydrates and those that have little or none.
Food with carbohydrates: Corn, potatoes. winter squash, sweet peas, soy products, bread, rice, pasta, cereal, fruit, milk and yogurt.
Food with little or no carbohydrates: beef, lamb, pork, poultry, fish (without breading), cheese, oil, butter and non-starchy vegetables.
