What is the the Farm Bureau Youth Speech Contest?
Every year, the Florida Farm Bureau hosts a statewide Youth Speech Contest. This contest starts at the county level. Winners of the county competition advance to district, and then potentially, state. This speech competition is a wonderful way for youth to gain an understanding of Florida agriculture, develop their communication skills, and potentially win prizes!
This year youth ages 14-18 are asked to answer the prompt, “In addition to food and fiber, what other positive impacts in your local community can be attributed to agriculture?”
Youth should prepare a speech in response to the prompt that is 5 minutes in length.
What are the prizes?
First – $500
Second – $200
Third – $150
Winners also have the potential to win additional prizes at the district and state level.
