Saving money at the grocery store: planning is key

In this series of posts, we’re helping you save money at the grocery store. In this post, we focus on planning.

Planning can save you money. Period.

Plan all your meals. This will help you prepare a grocery list, which will save you money and time, and also will help you get nutritious, tasty meals on the table or for work and school.

Also think about planning for snacks. Usually, these items are portioned out for us by the manufacturers. But, that means they often contain more packaging, are more processed, and are less nutritious..

A better approach to snacks could include items such as:

  • apple with an ounce of cheese
  • banana and a tablespoon of peanut butter
  • yogurt
  • carrots and celery sticks with a low-fat dressing
  • morning cereal that is portioned out for the day

If you plan ahead, eating these items can be healthier and less expensive.
