Operation Cleansweep: Helping businesses with chemical disposal

Are you a commercial business- golf course, pest control, agricultural, greenhouse, or nursery operations – that needs to get rid of old chemicals, but are worried about the cost? Look no further – you just found the answer!

Operation Cleansweep is a FREE statewide program offered to commercial users of pesticides. The program covers the cost for disposal of canceled, suspended, and unusable pesticides (CSUP).

What you need to know:

  • Coordinators will pick-up up to 1,000lbs of chemicals statewide from you place of business
  • Sign up is required and is currently underway for an anticipated January 2019 collection day
  • Available on a first-come, first-served basis and funding is limited
  • Limited to businesses. No household chemical pickup.

To sign up for the 2019 program or for additional information, please contact Shannon Turner at 877-851-5285 or Cleansweep@freshfromflorida.com.

Funding for the program has been provided through the Florida Legislature since its launch in 1995. The program is managed by Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) and has collected and disposed of more than 1,762,000 (881 tons) of CSUPs from 2,400 commercial users throughout Florida over the program’s lifetime.
