Polishing 4-H arts and crafts demonstrations

The 4-H program at UF/IFAS Extension Sarasota County has a long, cherished history of working closely with the Sarasota County Fair. Part of that is offering our 4-H youth members the opportunity to present their arts and crafts demonstrations to anyone visiting the very popular fair, in the “mini-building” at the Fruitville Road fairgrounds. Now, we are in the process of making that event even better.

We are in conversation with the fair leadership about ways to improve how this event is administered. We also are better aligning the demonstration categories to make more evident the connections to existing 4-H curricula and initiatives, to further our positive youth development in Sarasota County. As we move through this process, we will post updates to this blog, to keep you informed of improvements. We’ve made it easy for you to learn the latest, as well, by creating a “tag” in our blog system that pulls all the latest news into one convenient stream for you. Just visit (and bookmark) blogs.ifas.ufl.edu/sarasotaco/tag/4H_ArtsAndCrafts

Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions, by phone at 941-861-9900, email to 4-h@scgov.net, or stopping by our Twin Lakes Park office, at 6700 Clark Road in Sarasota.

Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you at the Fair!
