Meet the Young Girl Inspiring Our Community with
Her Peanut Butter Donation
At just nine years old, London Brandt, is already making a difference in her community. Inspired by the kindness she sees around her and her desire to help those in need, London recently donated 64 jars of peanut butter to UF/IFAS Extension Polk County’s 2024 Annual Peanut Butter Challenge, an effort aimed at providing food to kids and families in need.
When asked what inspired her to get involved, London shared, “There are some people who don’t have food or shelter, so I wanted to help with that.” London’s parent, who works at the library, told her about the peanut butter drive, and she immediately felt compelled to give. “I felt really excited!” she said when she found out about the drive.
What Does Donating Mean to You?
For London, donating isn’t just about giving material items—it’s about helping others who might be going through tough times. “I want to help kids in the world who don’t have food,” she explained. With her heart set on making a difference, London found a unique way to gather peanut butter for the drive: she asked for jars of peanut butter for her birthday.
London’s donation didn’t stop with just the peanut butter she received as gifts. “I had a lot of people willing to help me reach my goal! Some even donated money for me to go shopping for peanut butter!” she shared. Her enthusiasm and determination brought the community together to support a meaningful cause.
For London, donating isn’t just a one-time event—she believes it’s important to help others whenever she can. “Donating is really great and it would help out a lot of people in need. Don’t be scared to help out!” she said, offering encouragement to other kids who may want to get involved but aren’t sure how.
London’s Message
London’s hope is simple but powerful: “I just hope [the peanut butter] helps them and fills their bellies.”
It’s a reminder that even the smallest acts of kindness can have a huge impact, especially when they’re done with love and care.
When asked if there were any obstacles she faced while collecting donations, London confidently replied, “No.” She found plenty of support, and it made the process easy and enjoyable. What London likes most about helping others is knowing that her actions are making a positive impact. “It makes a big impact. I like being involved in that,” she said with a smile.
Small Actions Can Lead To Big Changes
Looking ahead, London dreams of helping even more kids in need.
If I could do anything to help other kids, I would donate my money to help kids get food and shelter. I just hope and pray all kids have a home that loves them,” -London Brandt
London’s peanut butter donation is just one example of how small actions can lead to big changes. She’s not waiting until she’s older to make a difference—she’s already proving that kindness has no age limit.
For others who might want to help but aren’t sure where to start, London has one simple message: “Don’t be scared to help out!”
