Florida’s climate supports a wide diversity of plants, but it also allows a wide range of pests to thrive.

Integrated Pest Management (IPM) remains the foundation for managing both invasive and native pests.  Early detection and prevention are especially important for invasive species. Pest management decisions often rely on economic thresholds. This is the point where control becomes cost effective. However, ornamentals are unique because appearance drives value. Even minor damage may be unacceptable to some customers, meaning management decisions must balance cost, sustainability, and aesthetics.
