National 4-H Week: #Opportunity4All

National 4-H Week is celebrated across the country each year during the first full week in October. This year that will be October 4th through the 10th, and the theme is #Opportunity4All. The 4-H program is indeed a place that values opportunity for all youth without regard to race, creed, color, religion, age, disability, sex, sexual orientation, or national origin. All are welcome and can find a sense of belonging in the 4-H program.

Annual 4-H Kick-Off Event

The tradition in Orange County has been to start the celebration of National 4-H Week with our annual 4-H Kick-off event. The kick-off would bring together various 4-H clubs to provide an opportunity for families to learn more about what 4-H can offer their children. There would be fun interactive club booths that kids could visit to play a game about insects, play catch with a robot, meet a pony or a steer, hold an archer’s bow, pet a chicken or rabbit and much more. There was always food, fun and prizes for those who visited all the stations.

Due to the pandemic, our 4-H Kick-off event will not take place this year. However, we will offer a virtual version of the event to give interested families the chance to learn more about 4-H opportunities in Orange County.

Digital Scavenger Hunt

Each Orange County 4-H club will create a digital scavenger hunt challenge. The challenge can only be answered by following a clue to a website, video or social media page. Digital Scavenger Hunt participants will access the Club Challenges through Orange County 4-H social media or our website. They will follow the clues to find the answers and submit them online. Participants will receive prizes for completing the hunt and 4-H Clubs will receive prizes for most creative and engaging challenges. The 4-H Digital Scavenger Hunt will launch on October 3rd and continue through National 4-H Week, October 4-10, 2020.
