4-H Poinsettias make Festive Holiday Décor and Great Gifts
Poinsettias are a perfect way to instantly decorate for the holidays and they make excellent gifts for everyone on your list. The Orange County 4-H Program is pre-selling foil-covered red, white and pink poinsettias in various sizes as well as beautiful 12″ poinsettia mum bowls. Your poinsettias will be ready for pick-up the first week of December at the Orange County Extension Center or will be delivered by the 4-H member with whom you placed your order. Each plant sold generates support for 4-H Clubs and the Orange County 4-H program. Everyone benefits when you purchase poinsettias – you enjoy a festive home or office and our 4-H members gain opportunities to participate in activities that help them learn and grow.
Benefits for Youth
Florida 4-H offers quality programs for 4-H members to develop valuable life skills . Youth are encouraged to engage in these learning opportunities at the local, state, and national level. However, participation can be costly, so financial support is needed to ensure these opportunities are available to all 4-H members. During the 2018-19 program year, the Orange County 4-H Association awarded more than $5,000.00 in 
scholarships for youth to attend camps, educational workshops, leadership events, and competitions supporting positive youth development. Successful fundraising such as the poinsettia sale is critical to the continued support of these valuable opportunities for our local youth.
Place Your Order
Poinsettia pre-orders are being taken between now and Friday, November 15th. Plants will be available for pick-up at the UF/IFAS Orange County Extension Education Center on Friday, December 6th between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Orders may be placed either in person at the Extension Center during normal office hours or through a local 4-H club member.
