2013 Fall Home & Garden Expo

The Fall Home and Garden Expo will take place Saturday, September 28 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Northwest Florida Fairgrounds, 1958 Lewis Turner Blvd. in Fort Walton Beach. The expo is brought to you by the Building Industry Association of Okaloosa-Walton Counties (BIA).

The Home & Garden Expo will feature exhibits of products and services and educational seminars for the homeowner and gardener.

At 10 a.m. Sheila Dunning, UF/IFAS Commercial Horticulture Agent with Okaloosa County Extension, will provide a seminar titled, “Taking the Guess Work out of the Landscape.” Attend this seminar and learn how to create and maintain a Florida friendly landscape.

At 1 p.m. I will provide a seminar titled, “Preparing Your Lawn for Fall and Winter.” Do you need to “winterize” your lawn? Should you overseed your lawn with annual ryegrass? What should you do about winter lawn weeds? Learn the answers to these questions and the truth about winter lawn care by attending this seminar.

Okaloosa County Master Gardeners will have a native plant sale from 9:30 a.m. until the plants are gone or until closing at 3 p.m. (whichever comes first). Arrive early as supply is limited.

Tickets purchased in advance will be $1.00 and can be purchased at all Eglin Federal Credit Union Branch Locations. Children 12 and under get in free.

For additional information visit the BIA website at www.biaow.org or call the Okaloosa County Extension Office at 689-5850.
