Learn how to maintain a Florida lawn

Growing a lawn in Northwest Florida can be frustrating. With time, most people discover this. To help reduce the frustration, University of Florida Extension Agents from across the Panhandle designed a series of classes to teach homeowners how to maintain a Florida lawn.

The classes will be offered by interactive video at the Okaloosa County Extension Office, 3098 Airport Road in Crestview. This series of classes is titled Turf Tuesdays and will be held on four consecutive Tuesday evenings from 6-8pm.

The first class on February 26 will provide information on soil pH, soil types, soil testing and turf types from which to choose. The second class on March 5 covers lawn fertilization. The topic for the third class on March 12 is lawn weed control. And lawn irrigation is the topic for the fourth class on March 19.

To register for Turf Tuesdays, call the Okaloosa County Extension Office at 850-689-5850. The cost to participate in Turf Tuesdays is $25 per person or $40 per couple. Fee covers course materials and refreshments. Deadline to register is February 22. Space is limited. Click on link to read more. Learn how to maintain a Florida lawn
